When Hasbro's Star Wars: The Black Series line arrived in 2013, it was a game-changer. The flashback ends as expected, and strangely Hitchcock doesn't deliver the sop to the censor as he does usually. Is she just crazy? Or is she a cold-hearted, calculating psychopath as in Out Of The Past? Certainly, her apparent innocence and naivety takes people in. Everything in the garden is rosy until, one night he hears her talking in her sleep, saying things that sound suspiciously like those she had reported Gilbert Hughes saying during his sleepwalk! Jane Greer's large black eyes and deadpan expression always give her an unnerving look. Then Mr Hughes dies and history repeats itself when Brett, who has fallen for her, marries Mrs Hughes. As with previous episodes, the fix is already in. The lawyer is a decent man and finds himself in over his head. Here we have a woman who has either no conscience or who has been driven to act the way she does through paranoia or abuse. Hence, we learn about them through a few significant actions. It's really hard to get to know anything about one dimension (plot driven characters). The problem with about 24 minutes of story is lack character development.
